A developer is on the way to rolling out condominiums where car dealers rolled out new autos for decades. Corliss Development Group began demolition of the former auto sales facility on West Street with week in preparation for the construction of 24 condominiums. The 2.5 acre parcel opposite North Avenue was most recently the home of Pride Ford. Pride bought it from longtime dealer Roberts Ford in 1997 and prior to Roberts it was the home of Nerney Motors. The property has been vacant in recent years after Pride moved to route 1 in North Attleboro. The city council rezoned the parcel to general residence in September, paving the way for the housing project that developers and city officials said will be healthier for the three rivers that border the property. Storm water runoff will be reduced by an estimated 43 percent and the danger of oil and gasoline leaks into the rivers associated with an auto business is also reduced. The parcel borders Bliss Brook, Bungay River and Ten Mile River.
